Apedale Country Park from the air

About

Once an Open Cast mining site this park now has 155 hectares of woodland, pools and pastureland. Though a young developing site it is an absolute haven for widlife. Many historical features from its indstrial past an still e seen and visitors can experience a working mine and steam railway adjacent to the site. In contast to this old industry the site has tranquil woodland walks and acre of carefully managed pasture all supporting an array of birdlife from Sky Larks to Short Eared Owls.

From the M6 take A500 for Stoke on Trent, at first roundabout take A34 Newcastle under Lyme. Continue through Newcastle then take B5367 Kuntton. Once through Kuntton look for car park signage on right.

The nearest railway station is Kidsgrove, which is 7 miles away.
