CLAY STUDIO:

Potter’s Wheel Session

Indulge in your very own pottery throwdown under the guidance of our studio potter. We use jasper clay for this one hour, have a go experience – the only place in the world where Josiah’s unique creation is used.

In the session you will learn:

- Clay preparation including wedging

- Centring the clay

- Throwing a basic cylinder form with even thickness

- A start on experimenting with different shapes

- Removing pots off the wheel

Materials and an apron will be provided.

Pre-booking is essential (via the link at the top of this page).

£25.00 per person (including postage).

Available Wednesday to Sunday. Two people per time slot.

As our safety measures do not allow the studio potter to fully assist with the throwing activity, we cannot guarantee that every finished pot will be able to survive a firing in the kiln, but don't worry, it's the taking part and having fun that is important!

Please note that pot throwing is not currently available to those aged under 12 years. 

 

Weekend Have a Go Fun Session

These sessions are great for children (aged six years and above) and adults who just want to have a go and experience throwing a pot on the potter’s wheel – we don’t take it too seriously and only fun is allowed!

Sessions last around 15 minutes and if you produce something that our studio potters think will survive the kiln, you can pay to have it fired and delivered.

Materials and an apron will be provided.

Pre-booking is recommended or drop in on the day if you don’t mind a short wait. Book via the link at the top of this page.

£10.00 per person (pay online).

£5.00 per person for additional firing and postage (pay on the day).

Open Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Two people per time slot.

Please note that these sessions are not available between 11.30am and 3pm.

 

DECORATING STUDIO:

If you're looking to make your own work of art, head to the World of Wedgwood Decorating Studio where you can paint your very own piece of Wedgwood biscuit ware, hand thrown or cut here in our Barlaston Factory!  

The Decorating Studio provids a fun and hands-on experience designed to appeal to all ages. Please note that we use water-based paints in our Decorating Studio. This allows you to take your pottery home on the same day as your visit as well avoiding the kind of staining found in other harsher paints. We take pride in caring for the environment as much as we can here at World of Wedgwood, which is another benefit of using water based paints.

The price of the sessions are between £5 and £12.50 on the day, depending on the item of pottery you choose to paint.

Best suited, but not limited to children age two and above.
