Halloween is fast approaching and that means it’s time to pick your pumpkins!
Here are six great places to PYO pumpkins in Staffordshire.
New for 2022: Pumpkin Patch, The Trentham Estate
Where: between Stoke-on-Trent and Stone, close to M6 Junction 15
When: daily from 14th-31st October
Time: 10am-4pm
What's On: for the first time, you can pick your pumpkin at Trentham this year. There's a huge selection to choose from, plus fancy dress competitions, photo opps, wand and broomstick making, and the pumpkin colouring and design studio. Your pumpkins are included in the price. Advance booking required.
Price: £18.50 for adults, £15 children aged 6-15, £6 children 2-5. Under 2s go free. Seniors and disabled £17. Family pass (2 adults, 2 children) £49.95. Members £6 per person. Price includes a day ticket for the gardens.

PYO Pumpkins, Lower Drayton Farm
Where: just outside Penkridge, close to Junction 13 of the M6
When: selected dates from 1st October, then every day from 14th-31st October
Time: 10am-5pm
What’s On: more than 125,000 pumpkins of all shapes and sizes to choose from on this huge pumpkin patch. Pick your favourite and bring it back to the carving tent in your wheelbarrow, before creating your freaky design! There's loads of photo opps, plus the chance to meet the farm animals, and then pick carrots, potatoes and sweetcorn to take home. Advance booking required.

Halloween Spooktacular, National Forest Adventure Farm
Where: Tatenhill, near Burton upon Trent
When: selected dates from 15th-30th October
Time: 9.30am-5.30pm
What’s On: enjoy a packed day on the farm, with pumpkin picking and carving, plus broomstick training, scare school, and fancy dress competition! Meet the animals in the barn and paddocks, let off some steam in the indoor and outdoor play areas, and take a ride on the tractor.
Price: £15.99 per person, £12.99 for senior citizens and disabled, free for under 2s and carers. Includes pumpkin.

PYO Pumpkins 2022, Essington Farm
Where: Essington in South Staffordshire, close to Wolverhampton
When: 1st-23rd October (more tickets to be released in October)
Time: time slots available all day
What’s On: choose from a wide variety including white and yellow ones. Advance booking required. The pumpkin is an additional cost, and prices range from £2 to £12, depending on the size. Tractor and trailer rides are free.
Price: £2.50 per person, not including the pumpkin. Free for the under 3s.

Late Night Pumpkin Picking, Canalside Farm
Where: Great Haywood, near Stafford
When: 8th-30th October (selected dates), late night slots 14th & 21st
Time: various slots available
What’s On: why not pick your pumpkin by torchlight this year? Hunt for the perfect jack-o-lantern after dark, between 4pm and 8pm, before braving the Spooky UV Maze. There are family games and photo opps too. Enter the photo competition and you could win a Halloween themed hamper!
Price: £3 per person, and additional charge for the pumpkin decided by weight

Where: Stowe-by-Chartley, near Stafford
When: 22nd-30th October
Time: various slots available
What’s On: pick and carve your pumpkin, get your face painted (every day except 29th October), and take a ride on the spooky tractor & trailer. Tackle the freaky maize maze, meet the farm animals, and go wild in the indoor play barn. Prizes for the best fancy dress.
Price: £6.49 for adults, £18.50 for children (pumpkin included). Advance booking required.

There are other farms offering PYO Pumpkins including Woore Fruit Farm, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, Manor Farm Fruits in Tamworth, and Lichfield Maize Maze.
Pre-booking is essential
At the time of writing, these patches had a good crop of pumpkins, but they are anticipating high demand, so we would recommend booking your slot as soon as possible.
