Every year the Lichfield Food Festival goes from strength to strength and 2017 is no exception with the organisers adding an extra day of fun to this fantastic free festival!

On Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th & Bank Holiday Monday 28th August, Great British Bake Off stars, Val Stones, Frances Quinn and Christine Wallace will be showcasing their baking expertise, along with a line-up of local award winning chefs presenting free cookery demonstrations at Central England Co-operative's Cookery Theatre, on the lawns of the stunning Lichfield Cathedral.

Complementing the cookery theatre will be a free Cookery School. It will be announced on Lichfield Food Festival Facebook page what masterclasses are available so that people can reserve a space. You can expect pasta making and Indian treat making amongst other things. Hindley's Bakery in Tamworth Street will be running free dough shaping courses. Visitors are encouraged to pre-book to get a spot. You'll be able to take home the loaf you've shaped after it has been baked.

This year is set to be the biggest yet with over 250 high end food & drink traders setting up stalls across the city centre, in Three Spires shopping centre and around beautiful Lichfield Cathedral. There will be hot and cold food from all round the world, with some gluten free and vegan options too. Choose from lots of deliciously refreshing Gins or tasty locally produced fruit wine. There is something for everyone.

Local food and beverage businesses in Lichfield are getting involved by serving outside their premises where they can. Have a walk down Bird Street where you'll find The George Hotel will be running free Gin masterclasses & tasters along with Pom's Kitchen offering festival specials & tasters to tickle the taste buds!

Feeling competitive this year? There's going to be a few competitions for the visitors to get involved in at the Co-Op Cookery Theatre. The very first one will be a Chilli Challenge, then the ‘Man vs Food’ challenge (anyone can enter!) & finally ‘The Crepe Escape’. Visitors will be asked to eat 10 crepes with our choosing of fillings, to win a prize. Also daily we will have ‘Lichfield Ready Steady Cook’ where you will watch two local restaurants and their head chefs battle it out!
