Halloween is fast approaching and that means it’s time to pick your pumpkins!

Here are five great places to PYO pumpkins in Staffordshire.

PYO Pumpkins, Lower Drayton Farm

Where: just outside Penkridge, close to Junction 13 of the M6

When: selected dates from 3rd October, then every day from 20th-31st October

Time: 10am-4pm

What’s On: more than 30,000 pumpkins of all shapes and sizes to choose from on this huge pumpkin patch. Pick your favourite and bring it back to the carving tent in your wheelbarrow, before creating your freaky design! Take a selfie in the special Pumpkin Photo Booth for a chance to win a great prize. Moonlight Harvest, National Forest Adventure Farm

Where: Tatenhill, near Burton upon Trent

When: selected dates from 9th-31st October

Time: 7pm-9.40pm

What’s On: a brand new event for 2020, where you can pick your jack-o-lanterns after dark! Afterwards, explore the Haunted Mirrors maize maze by torchlight - if you dare - and enjoy some live music, fantastic fire performers, and fairground rides. And don't forget your wellies! Advance booking required. Day-time pumpkin picking also available.

PYO Pumpkins 2020, Essington Farm

Where: Essington in South Staffordshire, close to Wolverhampton

When: 1st-18th October (more dates to be released soon)

Time: time slots available all day

What’s On: choose from 10 varieties, from tiny ones to giant ones! There are plenty of white ones in this year's harvest, plus other colours too. Advance booking required. The pumpkin is an additional cost, and prices range from £2 to £10, depending on the size.

Pumpkin Festival, Canalside Farm

Where: Great Haywood, near Stafford

When: selected dates from 10th-31st October (more dates to be released 18th October)

Time: various slots available

What’s On: choose from a bumper harvest of orange, green, yellow and white pumpkins - a perfect pumpkin for everyone! Enjoy family games and photo opportunities on the farm, and enter your pics into the competition for a chance to win a Halloween themed hamper. Advance booking required.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin, Amerton Farm

Where: Stowe-by-Chartley, near Stafford

When: selected dates from 17th-31st October

Time: 10am-3pm

What’s On: the only patch on our list where you don't need to book in advance, which means a small wait may be needed to help the site stick to social distancing guidelines. There is no charge for the pumpkin picking too - it's included in the admission price. Carve your pumpkin on site and leave the leftovers for the farm animals.

This is to help manage numbers and maintain social distancing on each site.

While these events had only just opened, at the time of writing, and had a good crop of pumpkins, they are anticipating high demand, so we would recommend booking your slot as soon as possible.
