There are loads of things to see and do in Staffordshire this August! Here are our 10 highlights.

Spectacular live entertainment

The Stoke-on-Trent arts extravaganza, The Big Feast, returns with an exciting combination of theatre, ballet, comedy and even virtual reality!

Brought to you by Appetite Stoke, this free annual event offers something for the whole family across the August Bank Holiday Weekend (24th-25th August).

This year there will be amazing acrobatics from NoFit State Circus, reimagined opera classics courtesy of the Royal Opera House, exhilerating adventures in the VR Playground, and more!

There's spectacular live entertainment at AstleyFest, a free family event on 4th August to celebrate Father of the Modern Circus Philip Astley, featuring breath-taking stunts, hilarious live comedy, awesome equestrian shows, and even dramatic military enactments.

And at Uttoxeter Racecourse the Charles Chipperfield Circus (25th-27th August) brings unforgettable action from death-defying trapeze artists, comical antics from the clowns and circus workshops for anyone who wants to have a go themselves!

Days out for couples

Enjoy delicious local produce at Lichfield Food Festival, a free event for foodies on the streets of our cathedral city (25th-27th August).

With over 300 stalls to peruse, there's bound to be something for everyone to savour. And there are former Bake Off contestants on stage, cookery schools, pop up demonstations and plenty of activities for young foodies too.

For more great food and drink, head for the splendour of Weston Park for an indulgent afternoon tea, paired with a fascinating behind the scenes tour on selected Sundays throughout the summer.

Explore areas of the House which are not normally open to visitors, such as the stunning bedrooms, and discover more about the history of this wonderful 17th Century stately home.

At the National Memorial Arboretum, Proms at the Arboretum (4th August) will feature all your favourite rousing tunes performed by The Band of The Royal Anglian Regiment, followed by a dazzling firework display.

Rainy day activities

Meet creatures great and small at The Pet Show at Stafford County Showground (18th-19th August), with dog and cat shows, interactive fun with tarantulas and other creepy crawlies, and loads of other family fun.

Pose for a free professional photo with your pet, watch the ferret racing and falconry displays, and hear expert talks on micro pigs, parrots and giant tortoises.

There's also more than 100 trade stalls to explore with tons of treats, new pet products and innovative gadgets to browse.

Go back in time with a host of arts and crafts events throughout the summer at the Museum of Cannock Chase, starting with the Victorian Adventure on 7th August.

There's something to get the creative juices flowing every Tuesday in August, focussing on the eras of the Tudors on the 14th, knights, castles and Robin Hood (21st), and the Romans (28th).

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

There are plenty of ways to lose yourself in the captivating Staffordshire countryside this summer!

One of the UK's best family festivals, the enchanting Just So Festival will take you on a unique expedition of mischief and mayhem at the Rode Hall Estate (17th-19th August).

There's story-telling, children's theatre, spell-binding illusions, a new area dedicated to all things dance, and even the very first Just So Custard Catwalk!

And you can take on the world's first Escape Maize Maze at the National Forest Adventure Farm every day through the summer holidays.

Prove yourself as the next top spy by beating the challenges to get the code you need to escape, or for younger agents, rescue the farm animals which have been captured by an evil mastermind!
