A new tourism newspaper launched by the county's leading tourism body, Destination Staffordshire, is welcomed by Colin Bryan, MD of Drayton Manor Park.

The annual publication, entitled Out and About, is designed to provide a detailed insight into the region's attractions and events promote the breadth of the tourism offer across Staffordshire and help visitors navigate around the county's attractions and places of interest.

Around 100,000 copies are being produced and will be available free from a range of outlets including tourist information centres, libraries, tourist attractions, hotels, B&Bs, large supermarkets and some selected eating places around the county and further afield.

Commenting on the reasons for introducing a new newspaper to market, Colin Bryan, MD of Drayton Manor Park and Ambassador for Destination Staffordshire said: "We identified that there was a limited range of information available to visitors post-arrival. Whilst our Enjoy Staffordshire visitor guide is the main vehicle for inspiration and attraction to the county, we felt further material was required to inform visitors in more detail and disperse them to attractions of their choice, throughout the county."

The Destination Staffordshire Partnership, the public/private partnership behind the scheme, is keen to establish further visitor information and resource material to facilitate optimum visitor spend. Tourism is one of the fastest growing businesses in the county, generating in excess of £902m per annum and employing almost 23,000 people.

Out and About will be financed in part through private and public sector advertisers and funded in part by Destination Staffordshire.

The success of the newspaper will be monitored through a feedback survey which will be incentivised by a free prize draw to win a Staffordshire Short Break. A dedicated website www.outandaboutstaffordshire.com has been established to facilitate data capture from visitors and solicit views and opinions of Out and About.

"When you consider the Enjoy Staffordshire visitor guide directly attracts more than 112,000 visitors to the county, who each on average spend £13.77 per day, generating a total return of more than £18.5 million, you can see the vital role these communication vehicles play in promoting tourism to the region," concluded Colin.
