It comes as the tourism body officially launched its short break website that enables holidaymakers to package and book their perfect break in Staffordshire in one easy to use website.

Those looking for a bargain holiday can save as much as 64 per cent when booking through the website compared to booking accomodation and attractions separately.

More than 100 billboards and posters, some featuring a Staffordshire family chosen from an EnjoyStaffs Facebook campaign, will appear at train stations in London and home counties, Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Bristol Parkway , Leeds Station and Sheffield Station.

The art work displays attractions and countryside locations such as Alton Towers Resort, the Churnet Valley, Caldon canal, the Manifold Valley, World of Wedgwood and Stone Food & Drink Festival.

Staffordshire is currently in the midst of a tourism boom with almost 25 million people from home and abroad enjoying day or overnight trips to the area.

The number of visitors have helped generate £1.1 billion to the local economy.

Mark Winnington, Staffordshire County Council cabinet member for economy, environment and transport, said: "The campaign was a great success last year and we are determined to build on that platform ahead of the summer holidays.

"We chose these particular poster locations as they are around two hours away meaning it is easy for holidaymakers to access Staffordshire. We are fortunate that being in the heart of England we have a huge catchment area to attract to our county and it is about optimising this potential."

Cllr Winnington also spoke about the significance of the Staffordsheer Escapes website launch.

He added: "May is when a lot of people look to book their breaks and it is a fitting time to launch

"This is a huge moment - in effect our website is like that of a travel agents’. It is supported by ABTOT, which allows people to book their perfect Staffordshire break in confidence.

"Visitor numbers are on the rise in Staffordshire and we are positive that the new short break website will only boost these numbers."
