π¦ It`s Wildlife Wednesday! π¦
πΏ With the recent wind and rain, it`s not been the best weather for our early spring Butterfly species, but in some recent sunny spells there have been plenty of sightings of Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni), Orange Tip (Anthocharis cardamines), Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) and Peacock (Aglais io). The Orange Tip butterfly is a traditional herald of spring as it happily flutters along hedgerows and woodland edges. This species` larval food plant is another herald of spring, Hedge Garlic (Alliaria petiolata), also know as "Jack by the Hedge", where you may notice individuals or pairs of Orange Tips perching on the delicate white flowers. Which as its name suggests is often found at the base of Hedgerows.
π We now offer a range of fun educational programmes for primary schools and educational settings focused on the wonderful world of invertebrates (insects/minibeasts)! Providing children with the opportunity to discover and learn all about bees, butterflies, beetles, bugs and so much more. We also have a NEW education tipi that school groups can utilise for lunch time and shelter should the April showers persist.
