Grants for Staffordshire Day events

The first Staffordshire Day, on May 1st 2016, was a huge success and many communities got involved in the celebrations by organising their own events, like open days and Spring fairs.

The next one is now less than six months away and we'd be delighted if you got on board again and helped us show the world how great our county is!

We know it can be expensive to put on events though, so we've put together this handy guide to which organisations you could approach for grants to help cover the cost.

Cultural Grants Programme

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council operates a Cultural Grants Programme, which is designed to help local people engage with cultural activities including music and crafts.

If you are based within the borough, you can apply for up to £1200 to support your event or activity.

Further information is available here:

Dancing around the Maypole, pictured here, was very popular at World of Wedgwood on Staffordshire Day 2016. You could use a grant to host an event like this in your community! Click here for info on Newcastle's Cultural Grants Programme.
Lots of community centres, like Spark in Burntwood, hosted arts & crafts days using grant funding. Click here for details of the Staffordshire Community Foundation, who could help you with your application.

Staffordshire Community Foundation

The Staffordshire Community Foundation is an independent organisation which provides advice on various funding streams and can help you apply for relevant grants.

These include the We Love Lichfield Community Fund, Stafford Borough Council Small Grants, and even national programmes like Comic Relief.

They are also the first port of call for the Staffordshire Police and Crime Commissioner's People Power Fund, which offers grants of between £100 and £3000.

Head to their website for more information:

If you do decide to organise a Staffordshire Day event, let us know and we'll add it to the Staffordshire Day section of our website.

We'll also promote it for you on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, in the local media, and a special Staffordshire Day email which will go out to thousands of people within a short drive of the county.

Email the details to, or complete and return the Staffordshire Day events form, which is available here as a free download.
