Set in rural Staffordshire Blithfield Reservoir provides a stunning visual aspect in a particularly picturesque landscape. Since its opening in 1953 the reservoir has become a haven for wildlife, particularly birds, a fact that was recognised in 1988 when the reservoir and most of its surrounding woodland was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, (SSSI). Despite being a water source first and foremost, the reservoir also offers a range of recreational and educational opportunities to people from all walks of life. You can visit our Blithfield Education Centre website at to find out more.
