This iconic memorial, constructed from Portland Stone, is the UK's tribute to the 16,000 men and women who have been killed on duty or as a result of terrorist action since 1948.

As the Centenary of the Battle of the Somme Commemorations draw to a close visit the National Memorial Arboretum to participate in final reflections to remember those who fought and died during the battle. Throughout the evening visitors will be able to enjoy music, drama and poetry performances and view an artistic light and sound installation.

The last piece of the Arboretum’s Somme 100 art installation, which features 19,240 individual wooden soldiers, representing all British soldiers killed on the first day of the Battle will be installed during this event.
